Is your business agile? OU’s new microcredential designed to upskill managers and leaders

Leaders are having to learn to adapt to increasingly complex and uncertain environments. As we adjust to ‘the new normal’, many leaders and managers will need to develop their skills to motivate and empower teams, and build resilience and sustainability.

The Open University (OU) in collaboration with the Agile Business Consortium is launching a new 12-week microcredential to equip managers and leaders with the tools and techniques to navigate complex challenges and environments.

Agile Leadership and Management will be hosted on the OU’s leading social learning partner platform, FutureLearn. It’s open now for enrolment to learners around the world.

This microcredential provides a solid foundation and introduction to Agile Leadership and Management, combining research and evidence-based training with good practice principles and tools.

Helen Sharp, Professor of Software Engineering, in the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics, at The Open University, said:

“We’re delighted that a decade-long research collaboration between the OU and the ABC has resulted in this microcredential which brings together the best of practice and research to deliver practical agile leadership insights and skills that you can apply to your work.”

Katie Taylor, Vice Chair, Agile Business Consortium & Lead Educator, adds:

“As the professional body for business agility, the Agile Business Consortium is extremely pleased to be working with The Open University to develop this microcredential in Agile Leadership and Management. It takes a fresh look at what makes adaptive organisations successful and equips individuals to develop themselves and those around them to deliver value sustainably.”

Mwaka Lungu, Managing Director, Agile Business Consortium, commented:

“This course is designed to support managers and future leaders to develop the business agility skills required to lead an agile team that will respond efficiently to change and the challenges of digital transformation. The course is based on the Agile Business Consortium’s 9 Principles of Agile Leadership, which are essential to support leaders through agile transformation in an ever-changing digital business environment.

“We hope this course will provide the space for managers and future leaders to develop, self-reflect, impact strategic change, and be encouraged to make challenging decisions to empower their teams.”

You can enrol now and the course starts on the 28th June 2021 and runs for 12 weeks.
