Following recent media reports, we would like to be clear that we have not boycotted GB News.
When we advertise with media partners we often purchase packages that help us reach a wide audience. When a new channel or publication launches, we follow a standard review process, usually over a three-month period. We were not informed that GB News had been added to our package and were therefore unable to carry out our normal review process. Our advertising on this channel has therefore been paused while we review, as we do for any other new broadcast outlet. We are working with our media agency and the review process includes reviewing cost effectiveness, suitability to reach our target audiences, and alignment with the University’s purpose.
Our core mission is to be open to people, places, methods and ideas – and to that end, we advertise with all publications and broadcasters that help us connect with people who might want to study with the OU.
The OU is, and will always be, open to all.
