OU joins city in welcoming King Charles III to Milton Keynes

The Open University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tim Blackman, joined civic leaders and well-wishers in welcoming King Charles III to Milton Keynes to formally mark its recently conferred city status.

His Majesty recognised Milton Keynes as the “home to innovation through The Open University” celebrating its inhabitants at this moment in its history.

Professor Tim Blackman, Vice-Chancellor of The Open University, said:

“On behalf of The Open University, it was an honour to meet his Majesty who received his Honorary Degree from the University in 1982.

“The King’s lifelong commitment to the environment and his work through the Prince’s Trust, encouraging young people from disadvantaged backgrounds into education and work, aligns strongly with The Open University’s social mission.

“We are extremely proud of our links to Milton Keynes, with our headquarters being based in the city since our establishment in 1969.”
