OpenLearn teams up with Barclays Eagle Labs to support entrepreneurs

The Open University (OU) is collaborating with Barclays Eagle Labs to promote the Eagle Labs Academy that will equip budding and established entrepreneurs with the tools and knowledge to grow their business.

This collaboration brings together the OU’s world-renowned educational resources with the innovation and entrepreneurship support provided by Barclays Eagle Labs.

The new collaboration provides aspiring entrepreneurs, small business owners, and innovators with access to a wealth of free, high-quality learning resources through the OU’s free OpenLearn platform, specifically tailored to support business growth and innovation.

The OU online courses are designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to turn their ideas into reality.

The collaboration establishes a link between OpenLearn and the Barclays Eagle Labs Academy, a digital learning platform to help founders start or scale their business. Funded by the UK Government, the Academy content covers key aspects of launching and growing a business, with bite-sized lessons that allow entrepreneurs to learn at their own pace.

The collaboration provides free access to a range of materials designed to help entrepreneurs and small business owners at all stages of their journey, from business planning, and marketing, to finance, and innovation.

Learners can also benefit from networking opportunities, mentorship, and community support.

Chaitali Patel, Head of Prospects at The Open University said:

“It’s great that the OU and Barclays Eagle Labs have teamed up in this area. Both the OpenLearn and Eagle Labs Academy platforms widen access to critical support that can make the difference in getting ideas and businesses off the ground.

“Having links established through both platforms gives learners extra choice and complementary courses to succeed with their business. We have plans to work more with Barclays Eagle Labs in the near future as we both aim to enable the UK’s entrepreneur community.”

Amanda Allan, Director of Eagle Labs said:

“The Eagle Labs Academy is a fantastic addition to the range of programmes and support that Barclays Eagle Labs offer tech startups and their founders. The Eagle Labs Academy is an exciting tool which we hope will encourage the next wave of tech entrepreneurs to start and grow their ideas into a lucrative business.

“The digital economy continues to experience huge growth and this tool is a great starting point for anyone who is thinking of entering this space and becoming a tech entrepreneur.”

OpenLearn was created in 2006 with a mission to allow anyone to learn for free, at any time. It currently hosts around 35,000 pages of high-quality resources, including more than 900 courses totalling 10,000 study hours. More than 110 million visitors from around the world have discovered the collection of learning materials.

When combined with the expertise of Barclays Eagle Labs, a leading incubator and co-working space provider, the Eagle Labs Academy offers a unique and valuable learning experience.
