The appalling attacks perpetrated by Hamas terrorists on Saturday 7 October, and the subsequent military response from Israel, have shocked us all. We are also deeply concerned for the welfare of the civilian Palestinian population, and those hostages currently trapped in Gaza. Our thoughts are with all those who are suffering.
We want to stress that there is no place for antisemitism, islamophobia or promotion of hatred towards those of any religious faith at The Open University.
We are taking action to support the welfare of our Israeli and Palestinian students and any OU staff impacted, both in the UK and overseas. We have contacted all those students who are directly affected by this conflict, to offer them welfare and study support.
For all students and staff affected by this situation, who are worried about family or friends, our thoughts are with you, and your loved ones.
