OU launches bursaries for 50 new BAME students

The Open University is offering ‘Open Futures Bursaries’ to support new OU students who identify as being from a Black, Asian, or other minority ethnic (BAME) background.

Fifty bursaries of £1,000 are available to eligible new students for the academic year 2020/21, to be used towards study costs or other living expenses. Applications are open until 18 September 2020.

Tim Blackman, Vice-Chancellor of The Open University said:

“We are committed to improving the representation of BAME communities at the OU, by providing support for the students to fulfil their potential and succeed here.”

The Open Futures bursaries were made possible due to the generous support of Mr Howard Brown, former treasurer of The Open University and our alumna, Mrs Elizabeth Brown BA.
