Dr Devendra Kodwani appointed Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law

Dr Devendra Kodwani has been appointed Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at The Open University. He joined the Open University in 2004 as a Lecturer in Finance and led the development of the triple-accredited MBA programme at the university.

Strengthen presence and reach new audiences

Dr Kodwani said: “I am honoured and delighted to be appointed as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at The Open University. This gives me opportunity to work with my impressive academic and professional colleagues of the faculty to meet the needs of management and law learners and corporate training.

“The faculty has a strong presence in the distance online market which we intend to strengthen further and reach new audiences both within the UK and internationally.”

A passion for education

As Associate Dean for Curriculum, Learning and Teaching at Faculty of Business and Law, Dr Kodwani embedded quality enhancement and learning design for distance and online programmes. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

His research focuses on the evolution of regulatory institutions in India, corporate governance and ethics. He has supervised several doctoral students and relishes working with people and being part of their development.

Dr Kodwani has a passion for education and its power to transform lives. The Open University social mission and values resonate with his view of the role of education in society.

He was previously employed at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad; Gujarat University and the Tolani Institute of Management Studies. Devendra Kodwani has produced accounting and finance modules and led development of the triple-accredited MBA programme at The Open University.
